Preliminary Program 2022

The preliminary program for the  SMART STROKES 2022 Conference to be held in Sydney from August 18-19 is now here!

SMART STROKES is a scientific conference that has a strong focus on improving the clinical care and management of stroke. As well as showcasing the work of established clinicians and researchers SMART STROKES encourages and supports novice researchers and presenters.

The Aims of SMART STROKES are to:

  • Showcase emerging and novel stroke research
  • Illustrate the application of evidence into clinical practice
  • Showcase innovations clinical practice
  • Deliver an academic conference for health professionals and researchers working in the field of stroke

Workshops will cover:

  • Cognition Screening for people after stroke
  • Different roles and achieving the best stroke patient outcomes
  • Promoting behaviour change for self management after stroke – implementing implementation science
  • How multidisciplinary team members can work with someone with cognitive and mood changes

Presentations will address the following:

  • Rehabilitation
  • Interdisciplinary care and education
  • Life after stroke and quality of life
  • Reducing variation in practice (implementation science and quality improvement projects)
  • Technology and innovation for improving service delivery
  • Community care and engagement

Keynote Speakers Include:

  • Sandy Middleton – Director, Nursing Research Institute, St Vincent’s Health Network Sydney, St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne and Australian Catholic University
  • Kate Hayward – Senior Research Fellow in Stroke Recovery, University of Melbourne
