Bruce Simcock

Bruce Simcock is a Lived Experienced Educator working with Edith Cowan and Curtin Universities.  He presents his stroke story to speech pathology students and the public, participates in research projects and contributes his ideas in developing a LEE educators course. Bruce is also the vice president of Aphasia WA and the state rep. of the Australian Aphasia Association.

A Chartered Accountant, Bruce ran a successful public practice until his stroke in 2015. Bruce has always volunteered in his community within sporting clubs, his stroke has driven him to switch focus as a passionate advocate for raising awareness of aphasia.

Bruce presents at conferences nationally and local community groups and believes self-confidence is the key to improving community participation for people with aphasia. He facilitates an Aphasia WA communication group each week.

Bruce has also completed a Cert IV in Assistant Technology Mentoring since his stroke.
